Piedmont - 5 Jun 1864

Following Gen Franz Sigel's defeat at New Market, Union forces under Gen David Hunter again advanced up the Shenandoah Valley toward the critical rail facilities at Staunton, Virginia. Confederate defenders were routed and Staunton captured.
