1864-05-24Wilson's Wharf

The first combat encounter between troops from the army of Northern Virginia and African American Union soldiers. About 3,000 men attacked the Union supply depot at Wilson's Wharf. The attack was repulsed by two union regiments.

1864-05-18Norwood's Plantation

After learning of Confederate forces in Yellow Bayou, Brig. Gen. Joseph A. Mower was ordered to halt their advance. This last battle in the ill fated red river campaign allowed union forces to escape.
